4. - 13.12. 2018 Czech Republic // 19. - 27.3. 2019 Slovakia
is a 15-day training (divided into two week-long phases) in Theatre of the Oppressed (TO) with focus on Forum Theatre. Forum is creative, fun and powerful technique which explores different solutions to problems or conflicts we all deal with – in family, in relationships, at school, in a community or in public spaces. During Forum play actors reveal a problem and invite the audience to come up and search for solutions on stage. In this way people learn together and train themselves in safe space to deal with difficult situations in their own lives.
|
is to provide 24 participants who work on LGBTIAQ+ issues with knowledge and skills on Theatre of the Oppressed which they can use in their own communities.
The training is based mainly on gaining practical skills. We will learn through the experience of building a Forum performance together during the training. Apart from that, we will explore other TO techniques and learn about historical and theoretical background of the method and its relation to human rights education. |
THE TRAINING
The training consists of two 8 and 7-day long residential trainings with a compulsory practice in between.
First phase (4. - 13. December 2018) will focus on providing theoretical knowledge and practical skills about Forum theatre necessary for the participants to facilitate theatre activities with their groups back home.
Interphase (January - March) will be the time for participants to put in practice what they have learned. We will encourage you and provide online supervision (if desired) on your journey. You can choose an activity that suits you best: facilitate a workshop, perform a Forum play or combine both. This will be your chance to explore and experiment with the method. The process will be the main input for the second phase.
Second phase (19. - 27. March 2019) will open up with sharing and reflection on your practice. We will deepen the knowledge of Forum theatre and add more techniques to our TO repertoire. We will also perform a Forum performance that we built together during the trainings in front of an audience in public space.
Training hours:
70 hours on the Theatre of the Oppressed techniques
20 hours on games and excersises developed by Augusto Boal as a part of TO repertoire
15 hours on theory and history of TO
15 hours on planning of individual TO activities, reflection and feedback of the practice
